Kojic acid, papaya and turmeric are known to have super skin powers.

Kojic Acid Benefits

Kojic acid is made from several different types of fungi. It’s also a byproduct when certain foods ferment, including Japanese sake, soy sauce, and rice wine.

Kojic acid inhibits and prevents the formation of tyrosine, which is an amino acid that’s needed to produce melanin. Melanin is the pigment that affects hair, skin, and eye color. Because it inhibits the production of melanin, kojic acid can have a lightening effect.

The benefits of using products containing kojic acid may include the following:

  • Anti-aging effect: Products containing kojic acid may lighten the skin, which can improve the appearance of age spots and sun damage. The reduction of dark spots can have an anti-aging effect.
  • Treat melasma: Kojic acid may also be helpful in decreasing melasma, which is darkening of the skin due to pregnancy.
  • Decrease the appearance of scars: Kojic acid may also reduce the discoloration of scars. Although the acid does not improve the thickness of scar tissue, it may reduce dark pigmentation associated with certain types of scars. Lightening the scar may make it less noticeable.
  • Antifungal benefits: Kojic acid is also thought to have some antifungal benefits. It may be helpful in preventing and treating certain fungal infections, such as athlete's foot and yeast infections.
  • Antibacterial effects: Kojic acid may also provide antibacterial benefits. It may help decrease the chances of developing common types of bacterial skin infections.

Papaya Skin Benefits

The papaya is an incredibly healthy tropical fruit. It's loaded with antioxidants that can reduce inflammation, fight disease and help keep you looking young.

    • Natural Sunblock.Zeaxanthin, an antioxidant found in papaya, filters out harmful blue light rays
    • Heals wounds and prevents skin infections.Researchers believe that the proteolytic enzymes chymopapain and papain in papaya are responsible for their beneficial effects.
  • Moisturizes Skin. Papaya can be a boon for those with dry skin. Using a papaya face pack can make your skin soft and supple. The enzymes present in papaya can assist in treating dry and flaky skin and hydrate it
  • Natural Skin Lightener.Papaya has skin lightening properties that help clear blemishes and pigmentation (4). Also, the beta-carotene, enzymes, and phytochemicals present in papaya help promote fairness. The enzyme papain, along with with the alpha-hydroxy acids, acts as a powerful exfoliator and dissolves inactive proteins and dead skin cells (6). This, in turn, can make your skin lighter and softer.
  • Reduces Wrinkles.Papaya peel can help reduce the signs of aging. Some claim it to be as effective as Retin-A. The peel contains enzymes that remove dead cells from the surface of the skin (5). This helps remove wrinkles and age spots.
  • Reduces Under-Eye Dark Circles. Using green papaya pulp on dark circles is a good way to get rid of them. Since it is a natural bleaching agent, green papaya helps erase skin discoloration.
  • Helps Treat Eczema And Psoriasis. Our ancestors used papaya to heal scars, burns, and skin diseases. As discussed earlier, the enzyme papain in papaya exfoliates dead skin cells to cure skin impurities (7) and can help prevent itching and redness.
  • Treats Melasma.Papaya can help treat melasma due to its exfoliating properties.
  • Removes Tan. This exotic fruit contains vitamins A and C in abundance. In combination with papain, they help lighten your skin
  • Controls Acne Breakout. Papaya treats acne and prevents future breakouts as well.Again, the proteolytic enzyme papain makes papaya an effective treatment for acne.

  • Turmeric Skin Benefits

For hundreds of years, people around the world have linked turmeric to healing properties and cosmetic benefits. The bright, yellow-orange spice is related to ginger. It’s available as a ground spice or in supplements and other beauty and dermatology products.

Turmeric gets its health benefits primarily because of curcumin, a bioactive component. Curcumin has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Modern scientific research is just beginning to study the positive impact of turmeric, but many believe it has several beneficial uses for the skin. Here are some ways turmeric may benefit your skin.

  • Glowing skin. Turmeric contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components. These characteristics may provide glow and luster to the skin. Turmeric may also revive your skin by bringing out its natural glow.
  • Boosts healing. The curcumin found in turmeric can help wounds heal by decreasing inflammation and oxidation. It also lowers the response of your body to cutaneous wounds. This results in your wounds healing more quickly.
  • Helps treat psoriasis. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities of turmeric may help your psoriasis by controlling flares and other symptoms.
  • Helps acne scarring. The anti-inflammatory qualities can target your pores and calm the skin. Turmeric is also known to reduce scarring. This combination of uses may help your face clear up from acne breakouts.
  • May treat scabies. In an early study conducted in India, a combination of turmeric and neem, a plant native to India, was effective in treating scabies. Scabies is a condition caused by microscopic mites that leave a rash in the skin.
